It's soapbox time again. If you don't agree with my -opinions-, I apologize, and please just ignore me. Don't skewer me over it.

I've been looking at a lot of artists' galleries lately, and I've noticed something odd. There are people out there who will fill out their "devious info" sections and say negative things. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't the point of that entire section to highlight things you -do- like? It seems like only saying things you don't like make you seem negative and closed-minded. That section is supposed to be a quick reference for the passer-by to see if you share things in common with that artist. If they see you like such-and-such series or video game, and they like it too, they'll be more likely to look in your gallery for fanart/etc. And that is only one example of how it can help you get more views.

For another example, I think the music an artist listens to not only says a lot about that person but also has an impact on their art as well. I came across a user (i never point fingers or list names in these rants out of consideration) who, in their musical interests, said, "I like everything except this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this and this." So my reaction was, "Well, what DO you like, then?" Listing your interests in such a way is no help to anyone and even possibly offensive. Sure, the most-listed dislikes in genre are rap and country, and most people can understand that even if they do actually like those genres, but listing a genre with a really wide range of artists or definitions makes you seem like you have no musical taste at all.

An even more debilitating example is a user who listed in favorite art styles, "I don't like this, this, this, this, this, this, and this." And I'm not exaggerating on the list lengths. They just seem a little ridiculous using the same word over and over, but you've gotta believe me. This artist didn't seem to be able to appreciate a wide variety of styles and that, to me, seems like they weren't much of an artist at all. It's like being a painter and saying, "I don't like drawing," or vice-versa. It does not help to be close-minded about art. It's important for an artist to see beauty and potential in everything.

Now, I'll come out and say some styles of -anime- just do not crank my tractor. But that's just when it comes to me watching or reading something and enjoying it for its entertainment values. Also, I don't go around telling the world, "GATEKEEPERS REALLY CREEPS ME OUT I HATE IT!!" Or, "The style in this or that anime is so stupid!!" It'll offend people who actually like that anime and make you seem like a troll in a cave.

The moral of this story is: Be positive! People like good vibes and putting out good vibes on your front page will attract people to you. Put it out somewhere that you appreciate visitors for taking the time to visit your page. DO fill out your devious info and let people know what you like so they can relate to you better! Do not put negative things in there. The prompts -are not- negative. They are "what do you PREFER," not "What do you ABHOR." Please keep that in mind.

LAST STATEMENT: I am not going to do anything with my journal because I hate advertising and that movie does not interest me anyway. SO MUCH FOR BEING POSITIVE LOL, but hey that's my choice I don't care if other people do it :9
